Hallmark Channel’s Debbie Matenopoulos on Halloween

3 DIY Trick-or-Treats Bags for Your Littles

The third major holiday in the USA since COVID-19 started is quickly approaching.  Depending on where you are in the country, Halloween may just be hypothetical this year. Treats without tricks. Because make no mistake about it: even if kids cannot (or at least, are highly advised not to) trick or treat this year, it doesn’t mean they can’t have the magic of Halloween!

Thanks to the brilliant mind of the Hallmark Channel’s Home & Family Show and our client Debbie Matenopolous puts a whole new spin on Halloween this year! DIY is all the rage these days, so why not apply it to all Hallow’s Eve and create the magic at home?

Check out these 3 DIY ideas to circumvent traditional trick-or-treating, and keep you, your family, and your neighbors safe while still enjoying the fun this holiday has to offer.  Debbie plans on putting together some treats with her daughter and delivering them to her neighbors front doorsteps!

1. Spooky Glove – we all have plenty of these latex gloves laying around – easy to fill with packaged candy.  All you need is see-through gloves, spider rings, candy to fill it with, and a bow!

2. Toilet Paper Roll Mummy – You can use toilet paper rolls, paper towel rolls (cut up), or wrapping paper rolls for this easy to make creative ghost candy roll.  Color the top of the roll with a black marker and then place googly eyes near the top. With white medical tape wrap each roll completely from the bottom up, leaving the eyes to peek through.  Fill with your favorite wrapped candy!

3. Pumpkin Tissue Paper Pouches – Take one piece of orange tissue paper and cut it in half.  Place candy in the center and form around it to look like a pumpkin.  Use florist green tape to make the stem!  Check out this fun how-to DIY Video from Factory Direct Craft!

Your Year in Review: Look Forward to 2020 by Looking Back at 2019

Via: Marie Forleo

Recently, the renowned and incredible life coach, Marie Forleo, posted about saying goodbye not just to 2019, but to an entire decade. Yes, people! Yes! As we enter 2020 in a few weeks, we are not just entering a new year. We are entering a new decade.

As far as New Year’s Resolutions go, it’s all well and good to have them. If that’s you thing, go ahead and make them! But you might also want to consider taking a look back not just over 2019, but also over your 2010 through 2019 to ask yourself some of the following questions:

1. What am I most proud of? Why? To make it easier, you can break this down into the following categories: Career, Home Life, Personal Goals, Health Goals.

2. What were my greatest challenges and how did I face them? Where am I at with them now and what work still needs to be done?

3. What do I want to work on most in 2020? My health? My career? My inner peace? What actionable baby steps can I take to start the process?

4. What wise words have become real for you over the past decade (i.e. even when things fall apart, I’m going to be ok, etc.)?

5. What mistakes did your make over the past decade and what did you learn from them?

For more juicy questions like these ones, and for a 3 part (free!) guide to review your decade before you jump into 2020, visit MarieForleo. We sure will be doing that both for ourselves, and for this business that we are so proud of here at Dunn Pellier Media! We are proud of what we do and how we show up for our clients, and yet we know there is always room for more: more abundance, more pushing the envelope, more seeking new ways and strategies that can make a difference in our clients’ brands.

Wishing you and yours a beautiful close out to 2019, and an amazing start to the next decade!

Cheers to 2020!

In Good Health,

How Samia Gore used Social Media to Build a Wellness Empire

We are thrilled to report the amazing success of our client and founder of Body Complete RX, Samia Gore, who built her empire by sharing her 80 pound weight loss and plastic surgery journey via social media. Body Complete RX is a plant based nutrition company designed with diversity in mind, namely, that not every approach works for every body.

According to this article about Samia in Essence, “the wellness industry has begun to diversify — but there’s still a long way to go. And while there are many different definitions to the term “wellness,” Samia Gore is redefining the fact that there’s no one-size-fits-all approach.”

After the birth of her fourth child, Samia didn’t recognize the body looking back at her in the mirror. She wanted to be proactive and get her body back, so she set out on a quest to drop the 80 pounds she had gained in her fourth pregnancy. Her journey may have started there, but it continued after making a decision to get plastic surgery to give her body that final “push.”

Read more about it in this Essence article.

Kanye West May be Onto Something: Color Light Therapy

More People are Using Saunas to Rejuvenate the Mind, Body & Soul!

If we gave you a pill and told you that it could alleviate depression, reduce swelling, relieve pain, decrease inflammation, decrease recovery time from injuries and operations, sleep better, regulate your mood, improve mental and physical performance, and promote anti-aging by energizing the skin cells, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin, giving skin back its youthful look, would you take it?

Of course you would! Hand me that water!!

But what if you didn’t need to take a pill at all? What if you can get all of those benefits (or rather, the potential for all of those benefits), simply by basking in light?

Well, you can. It’s called Color Light Therapy, and if you’ve ever caught a glimpse of Kanye West’s famous Sunday Service, you would have gotten a first hand view of how this ancient practice is used.

Our newest client, Perspire Sauna studio, is harnessing this ancient medicine and combining it with the power of heat to bring you a full spectrum infrared sauna technology combined with Color Light Therapy, or Chromotherapy, as it is also called. With locations in Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, Laguna Niguel, Newport Beach, Atlanta, GA, and soon Austin, TX, you can sign up for a session in this healing sauna and test it out for yourself!

Currently the therapeutic applications of light and color are being researched in major hospitals and research centers worldwide. Results indicate that full-spectrum, ultraviolet, colored, and laser light can have therapeutic value for a range of conditions from chronic pain and depression to immune disorders.

The Science of Color

Every color, each with its own frequency, is a form of vibrational energy.

All organs, cells and atoms exist as energy, and each form has its frequency. Each of our organs and energy centers vibrates and harmonizes with the frequencies of these colors. When various parts of the body deviate from these expected normal vibrations, one can assume that the body is either diseased or at least not functioning properly. The vibratory rates inherent in color (chromotherapy) are such that they balance the diseased energy pattern found in the body

Colors generate electrical impulses and magnetic currents or fields of energy that are prime activators of the biochemical and hormonal processes in the human body.

The Science of Light

Light is responsible for turning on the brain and the body. Light enters the body through the eyes and skin. When even a single photon of light enters the eye, it lights up the entire brain. The release of melatonin is directly related to light. This necessary hormone affects every cell in the body. It turns on each cell’s internal activities, allowing them to harmonize with each other and nature.

Kanye West, inspired by artist James Turrell, is using colored light in his Sunday Service performances for therapeutic reasons. “They pull you into a Zen space, and to reprogram…to be more calm, in the moment to be more stable,” explains West in his latest interview with David Letterman.

So if you’re ready to relax your mind, detox your body, burn calories, increase circulation, relieve pain, enhance your immune system, clear and improve your skin, and start sleeping better, sign up for a session today!

Feeling Burnt Out? Discover the Connection Between Sleep & Career Burnout

When it comes to career burnout, there are undoubtedly a number of factors that play a role. According to an article featuring our PR client in Forbes Magazine, these factors include but are not limited to work-life balace, a poor job function fit, a mismatch in values, lack of employee appreciation, certain personality and character types and not progressing in one’s career.

But what about sleep? Can it play a role in career burnout? In a word, yes. Why?

Sleep Cycle has found that 40% of Americans say stress is the biggest disruptor to circadian rhythms, and 60% feel their circadian rhythm is affected by their work-life balance. Our circadian rhythms control our sleep-wake schedule, and so if our rhythms are out of sync, our sleep will take a hit,” says Rachel Montanez, author of the aforementioned article in Forbes Magazine.

She goes onto outline three ways in which lack of sleep affects us:

1. It disrupts our mindset.
2. It disrupts our work environment.
3. It can negatively effect our career or job choice.

Our very own client at our health and wellness PR firm, Dr. Caroline Leaf, is a neuroscientist and author of Think, Learn, Succeed: Understanding and Using Your Mind to Thrive at School, the Workplace, and Life. Dr. Leaf was called upon as an expert in the article. She broke down how sleep can disrupt our mindset and why that is important:

“Sleep is a regenerative housekeeping function allowing the mind and brain to sort out and clean up the thought-building process that occurred while the individual was consciously awake. It increases our ability to self-regulate our own thinking, feeling and choosing, which we do all day long. If we don’t get enough sleep, we will tend to approach work, relationships and life with a more negative and pessimistic attitude.”

So the next time you are thinking about burning the midnight oil, it might be best to think again. If getting a few extra hours of sleep can in turn make you more productive during your waking hours on account of having a positive impact on your mindset, perhaps that might be the better choce?

Food for thought. Happy sleeping!
